“If the average statistical indicator of psychogenic losses is 10-25%, then currently among personnel the share of psychogenic losses reaches up to 80%. Moreover, up to 30-40% are irreversible losses, i.e. when psychological problems turn into psychiatric problems, and the serviceman is unable to perform tasks in the ATO zone, and this is dangerous for others, including colleagues.

Families of military personnel also face problems - the behavior of returning soldiers has changed so much that it is even leading to the breakup of some families. This may be due to both the aggressive behavior of an ATO participant and inadequate styles of behavior that are transferred from war to peacetime. A person behaves at home as if in a war zone.

There are also situations where men cannot feel their wives as their life partners. There is a breakdown of families, a misunderstanding in some everyday issues,” said the specialist.

According to the psychologist, one of the reasons for such problems is the significant excess of the permissible period of stay in the combat zone - if in a normal case it is 35-40 days, then military personnel are in the ATO zone for 4-5 months.

Injuries lead to military personnel becoming uncontrollable, aggressive, and losing the meaning of life. This also includes alcoholism and drug addiction. Some military personnel with such problems can be returned to duty, but in the event of irreversible losses, behavioral reactions require the intervention not of psychologists, but of psychiatrists in an inpatient setting.
