This opinion was expressed by Andrey Zolotarev, head of the Third Sector analytical center, at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I have no great desire to comment on military issues, since in Ukraine, like nowhere else, there are many (especially the worse things are in the East) military experts, and I do not want to increase their ranks,” the Ukrainian political scientist made a reservation. – The question is different: as long as the current control system of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and their system itself are preserved, the question is not about weapons. They are trying to convince us that there is a wunderwaffe - a miracle weapon, that they will supply us with a Javelin and we will cope with the Russian tank armada. Nothing like this. Problems of communication, management, and logistics are key. And arms supplies are not of primary importance here. It is obvious that, following the Hummers, Ukraine will receive some elements of weapons, but given the current system in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, this will not lead to any radical changes.”
The political expert is inclined to think that these supplies “will most likely lead to an escalation of the conflict in the East.”
“Today it is not weapons that are the means of solving Ukrainian problems in the Donetsk and Lugansk regions,” concluded Andrei Zolotarev. “Most likely, without political will, without the desire of the authorities, things will not move forward, even if worse, for the world.” For now, unfortunately, there remains a feeling that the war has been paused, and the fragile peace could give way to escalation at any moment.”
