The Ukrainian Central Election Commission is expecting a “hybrid attack”
The Central Election Commission of Ukraine did not rule out a hybrid attack on the Commission during the presidential elections.
This was stated by the head of the Central Election Commission Tatyana Slipachuk.
“We are not just thinking about cyber defense, we are thinking about the fact that there could really be such a hybrid attack on the Central Election Commission. This is not only a matter of cyber defense... We also think very seriously about the possibility of getting into polling stations, for example, by registering as observers,” the Chairman of the Commission emphasized.
According to Slipachuk, since the start of the work of the new CEC, 12 meetings have already taken place with representatives of Ukrainian foreign partners, primarily with those who have experience in interfering in elections.
“We met with the Minister of Internal Affairs. We understand that there is a new police force; many employees did not take part in the election campaigns. This will also be their first global campaign. Because there will be a cancellation from the local elections that they monitor. Therefore, our goal is to sign a memorandum on the cooperation that should be established between the CEC and the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the long term, and not for the duration of the elections,” she noted.
