In particular, Maya Mikhailyuk, a volunteer of the Wings of Generosity and Care initiative and CNN International author, writes about this. According to her, she had just returned from her first trip to Marinka, where their organization delivered food packages to elderly people.
“For the first time, we distributed food packages to the homes of the oldest residents of Marinka. The set contains a pack of rice, buckwheat, pasta, sugar, a liter of sunflower oil and two canned goods. If only the eyes of these people could see. I’m still there mentally, I can’t believe that what I saw is happening today,” the volunteer wrote.
“How can this be? Here in Ukraine, in 2014, old people are dying of hunger! They talk with tears about how they saw another war in their lives. But then everything was clear - who the enemy was, who to fear. They asked us, with whom is the war now, who is bombing their houses, when will this end?” – said Mikhailyuk.
