Disputes began among the Ukrainian leadership over the idea of closing railway connections with Russia
Kyiv's ban on railway communication with Russia, initiated by Minister of Infrastructure Vladimir Omelyan, will lead to nothing, since unofficial carriers will find workarounds in a short time.
Deputy Minister of “Temporarily Occupied Territories” Georgiy Tuka stated this on the Newsone channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“In my opinion, we need to understand: what is the purpose of this ban? What is the end goal of all this? So that fewer of our citizens end up in the Russian Federation? You know, I would also really like for not a single citizen of Ukraine to have the slightest desire to go to an aggressor country, but if there are such people, if they have a desire, then they will try to realize all their desires in other ways.
As far as I know, Russians enter only with biometric passports. Therefore, I cannot understand the ultimate goal of all this,” the official noted.
In response to this, the program host noted that “people managed to get through the Berlin Wall.”
“They crawl under and fly over,” Tuka agreed.
“Why exactly is it necessary to ban the movement of these trains? Look, there are a certain number of our citizens who are trying to get to Russia. If we, the government, make it more difficult for them to get where they want to go, then this will only increase the level of outrage at the actions of the Ukrainian government for some of our citizens. Is it worth doing? I don’t understand,” the official added.
“Believe me, business, in particular, road carriers, will find an alternative to the prohibited trains within two or three days,” he assured.
