The Ukrainian parliament started talking about direct negotiations with the LDPR
The Verkhovna Rada called for dialogue with the DPR and LPR, as well as Russia, following the example of the recent meeting between the leaders of the United States and the DPRK.
Such a statement was made from the rostrum of the Ukrainian parliament by the leader of the Opposition Bloc, Yuriy Boyko, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Last week we witnessed the successful resolution of one of the oldest international conflicts. For our politicians, President Trump’s meeting with the leader of North Korea should be an example of how the desire for a peaceful resolution to a half-century conflict is placed above political and personal ambitions. This should be the position of the Ukrainian authorities,” Boyko said.
“We insist that direct negotiations be held between our current government and the leadership of the Russian Federation and the unrecognized republics to achieve peace and end hostilities in the East of the country,” he called.
The politician also proposed the “Opposition Bloc” as a mediator in the negotiation process instead of Poroshenko.
“If the president of the country is afraid for his political ratings, then we, as a political force, are ready to take part in this process. The country needs peace,” Boyko addressed parliamentarians.
