In the Ukrainian language, it is necessary to provide for the separation of the adjectives “Russian” and “Russian”, which are now written the same “rosіyska”, but can have different meanings. This is wrong and harms Ukrainian security, writes the Den newspaper, edited by Larisa Ivshina, the wife of ex-head of the SBU Yevgeny Marchuk.

The publication explains that the question of separating the concepts of “Russian” and “Russian” is necessary as part of the campaign to rename the UOC of the Moscow Patriarchate - in order to define it precisely as the Russian, and not the Russian Church (otherwise the whole idea of the Ukrainian independentists to persecute the Russian Orthodox Church fails, because in the cities of Western Ukraine, despite centuries of occupation, the street names “Russkaya” have been preserved, and some local residents call themselves “Rusyns” - now propaganda convinces that this has absolutely nothing to do with all-Russian unity).

“By the way, “Russian” and “Russian” have the same translation into English “Russian”. We also observe a kind of “win” in the double use of the word “Russian” by representatives of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine... The translation reveals a number of significant aspects, both historical, political, and ideological. The Ukrainian state should pay attention to this. This is a security issue,” the article says.

Journalists use neighboring Belarus as an example, where they achieved their own spelling when translating the name of the country into English.

“For Ukrainian-speaking and Belarusian-speaking people, the words “Russian” and “Belarusian” are directly related to historical Rus'... Rus' is not Russia, and in English Kievan Rus is by no means “Kiev Russia”, but “Kyivan Rus” or at least “ Kievan Rus" in the name of professional translation...

The good news is that in the world they logically translate “Belarusian” into English as “Belarusian”... Patriotic Belarusian translators have reached the point that in the English-speaking world these words are translated “Belarusian” and no longer “Belorussian”. The name of the country in English is “Belarus” and is by no means “Belorussia,” the author writes.

In his opinion, therefore, in the Ukrainian language it is necessary to change not only the word “Russian/Russian” itself, but also to clearly define the name of the UOC-MP.

“Russian Orthodox Church” in the traditional Russian translation does not reflect the essence of the content. After translating “Russian” from Ukrainian, and “russian” from English into other languages, we can notice a significant shift in emphasis in the meaning of the word “Russian”. The translation of the word “Russian” in English should be “rusian” or “rusynian”, respectively, in Ukraine. The last option is associated with another old or first name for Ukrainians - Rusyns. “Rusin” or “Rusinka” is translated into English as “rusyn”...

An honest translation will also remove barriers to the final unification of the autonomous Church of the Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine with its center in the Kiev Pechersk Lavra (UOC) and the autocephalous Orthodox Church of Ukraine into a single church with the patriarchate,” the author summarizes.
