Ukrzaliznytsia complains that the Ministry of Transport is sabotaging decommunization on the railway

“Since last fall, we have been asking the Ministry of Infrastructure to provide conclusions to local authorities on the renaming of railway stations as part of decommunization. The authority to make decisions at sessions to rename stations rests with local governments in agreement with the Ministry of Infrastructure. This is determined by the law of Ukraine “On Geographical Names,” he wrote.
According to Balchun, 24 separate points and four stopping points require renaming, and the Ministry of Infrastructure provided conclusions on the renaming of only 12 stations: Dnepropetrovsk-Gruzovoy to Fabrichny, Dnepropetrovsk-Liski to Dnepr-Liski, Dnepropetrovsk-Glavny to Dnepr-Glavny, Dnepropetrovsk-Yuzhny to Lotsmanskaya, Dneprodzerzhinsk to Kamenskoye, Dneprodzerzhinsk-Levoberezhny to Kamenskoye-Levoberezhnoe, Dneprodzerzhinsk-Pasazhirsky to Kamenskoye-Pasazhirskoye, Tsyurupinsk to Aleshki, Krasny Liman to Liman, Kirovograd to Kropivnitsky, Ilyichevsk to Chernomorsk and Ilyichevsk-Paromnaya to Chernomorsk-Paromnaya.
“Our regional branches, due to numerous requests from the public, people’s deputies and passengers, have received preliminary consent from local authorities to rename 16 railway points and ask the Ministry of Infrastructure to expedite the provision of their conclusions to local governments to complete the process of renaming railway stations,” he added.
