In Uman, on the eve of the annual pilgrimage to the grave of Tsadik Nachman and the celebration of the Jewish New Year - Rosh Hashanah - a Hasidic camp was destroyed. Thirty young men of athletic appearance attacked the Hasidic camp using various carpentry tools. Hasidim call these actions a provocation.

The attack took place on Saturday, a day when Hasidim are prohibited from carrying out any work.
Young people knocked down power poles and smashed surveillance cameras. Finally, they promised to return in three days, when the first pilgrims begin to arrive in Uman.
Leiser Hirshboim, chairman of the Uman Jewish Association, recalls that Hasidic tents first appeared on this site more than ten years ago. They were placed for several days and then dismantled. Subsequently, the city authorities issued all the necessary documents and allowed a permanent camp to be placed there. While the journalists were being given a tour of the camp, the leader of the attackers appeared behind the fence. Seeing the camera, the man tried to escape.
