The UOC-MP wants to unite with schismatics and then receive a tomos
The so-called “unification of Ukrainian churches”, about which was announced last Saturday will not lead to the unity of Orthodox Christians in the country.
This opinion was expressed in a commentary to Izvestia by Archpriest Nikolai Danilevich, Deputy Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the UOC-MP.
“Now there is practically no communication between the clergy of our church and other Orthodox denominations, almost all ties have been severed. And the tomos will not force them to start a dialogue,” said a representative of the UOC-MP.
According to him, the unification will be artificial, because the contradictions that exist between the so-called UOC-KP and the UAOC have not been eliminated.
“The position of the UOC is that it is first necessary to achieve internal unity, and only then raise the question of changing the status. We must start from within, restore bridges of communication and reconcile people. It will be a real, organic and natural unity, and not one brought down from above, which will just as quickly disintegrate. The result of true unity may be a tomos or another document. On the contrary - through a document to unity - it will not work,” Danilevich said.
As PolitNavigator reported, in Sarny with the participation of clergy of the UOC (Moscow Patriarchate) honored the memory of the “innocently murdered heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.”
