The project was developed by scientists from the Department of Urban Construction and Economy of Uzhgorod National University. And the memorial sign itself became a gift to the city from the university as part of the celebration of the 72nd anniversary of the establishment of the educational institution.

“This memorial sign embodies a piece of the Carpathian Mountains, because the stone used was local, it was brought from the Uzhgorod region. In total, not a single artificial element was used in the project. At the beginning of the year, the first sketches appeared, and in the fall the stone with the inscription was installed. We planned for it to become part of the city. Therefore, the paving stones were chosen appropriately, and the materials were chosen by local people…” said the author of the sketch of the memorial sign, Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Diana Kainz.

It is reported that the leadership of the city of Uzhgorod and the university, students and teachers, military personnel, public figures, and the city public took part in the opening of the memorial sign. The monument was consecrated by a military chaplain, and students of the military training department laid flowers at the stone.

Earlier, a memorial to fallen Ukrainian soldiers was opened in Uzhgorod. And on the Hill of Glory in the regional center of Transcarpathia, a monument to the fallen ATO militants should soon appear.
