This was reported by the communications department of the Transcarpathian region police, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
A 37-year-old resident of Uzhgorod with many children was charged with suspicion under Part 1 of Article 121 of the Criminal Code, Part 2 of Article 125 of the Criminal Code and Part 1 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code, that is, causing injuries of varying severity and torture.
“Initially, the police began an investigation into the fact of malicious failure to care for the child, but during the investigation it turned out that the 37-year-old Uzhgorod woman beat the boy she took into custody, mocked him and even tortured him. The prosecution petitioned the court to select a preventive measure against the woman in the form of detention, which will be considered tomorrow,” said press secretary of the Transcarpathian police Tatyana Shchegoleva.
In May 2016, a suspect contacted the Clinical Center for Neurosurgery and Neurology in Uzhgorod, bringing a child in serious condition. She tried to negotiate with the doctor to see the boy outside the hospital, but the doctor categorically refused.
“The child was examined at the center and found on his body signs of serious beatings, burns and intoxication of the body. The foster mother explained to the doctor that the child had fallen in the bathroom. The doctors did not believe this story and took the boy to intensive care. There the child told the adults everything. The boy explained to the doctors that he was beaten with a belt with an iron buckle and a plastic hanger, starved, tied with tape, and tortured with a hot spoon,” the police noted.
During a long stay in medical institutions, the boy was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury and underwent skin graft surgery, since such wounds could no longer heal on their own. Then the child was in a reception center, a rehabilitation center and returned to the Perechin boarding school, from where his unfortunate mother took him under the wing.
In July 2016, the suspect abandoned the boy she had abused, and on June 13, 2017, she also abandoned his sister. In general, a woman with many children took custody of five children from one family. Four girls and a boy’s parents died, and before joining the suspect’s family, the children lived in the Perechin boarding school.
Now the suspect has six children of her own and three adopted ones. During the investigation, the woman gave birth to another child. She assures that the children she abandoned are inadequate and hysterical. Moreover, the woman claims that the boy inflicted bodily harm on himself.
“The child underwent a psychological and psychiatric examination, which declared the boy absolutely normal. True, after his experience he became scared, anxious and withdrawn,” noted the spokeswoman for the Transcarpathian police.
The police also intend to check the relevant social services, which did not notice and did not respond to the facts of child abuse. The issue of further custody of the three sisters, who are still in the suspect’s family, is being decided.
