In Warsaw, a Ukrainian flag was thrown at Biden’s feet
During preparations for Joe Biden's speech in the garden of the Royal Palace in Warsaw, a blue and yellow path was laid out between the exit from the palace and the podium.
However, before the start of the event, it was removed - most likely, after the reaction of Kyiv representatives, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
It is worth noting that Polish President Andrzej Duda spoke “to warm up the public” before Joe Biden, who, in particular, spoke about the “heroism of the Russian military,” although he immediately corrected himself, noting that he meant the Ukrainians.
At the same time, the podium and the entire space for the public were decorated not only with Polish and American, but also Ukrainian flags. Therefore, many also expected a video message from Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky - but the organizers decided not to turn Biden’s speech into the opening ceremony of the Berlin Film Festival.
Since the design of the space was completely under the control of the Americans, they clearly proposed the idea of a blue and yellow carpet for Biden.
The Polish media reported this as a matter of course, without any comments about how correct it is to trample on national symbols in general, and those belonging to a “strategic partner” in particular.
In addition, now in Poland blue and yellow colors have simply become a generally accepted element of the landscape, as my friend from Warsaw said, everyone is used to them and does not pay attention.
It is difficult to say who ensured that this path was removed - the protocol of the President of Poland or the Kiev side (after all, the Ukrainian Ambassador to Warsaw Vasily Zvarich was among the guests of honor at the speech). Most likely, the Ukrainian Embassy turned to the Polish authorities, and Duda, realizing that he would not be forgiven for walking through the “Ukrainian flag” in Kyiv, asked the Americans to make changes to the original plan.
But the incident with Ukrainian symbols still happened after Joe Biden’s speech. The organizers released dozens of children with American, Polish and Ukrainian flags, who rushed to the US President. At the same time, the child with the Ukrainian flag, whom Biden hugged for the photo, had pronounced Asian features.
