Washington fears that Putin will outplay Biden in a personal meeting
The meeting between the presidents of Russia and the United States could become a turning point in relations between the two countries.
Nezavisimaya Gazeta writes about this, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, noting that there is no information yet about the location of a possible meeting between Vladimir Putin and Joe Biden.
“Be that as it may, the summit, if held, could become a turning point in the long-term escalation of Russian-American relations, which began under President Barack Obama and continued under Donald Trump,” the article says.
The publication emphasizes that the time for contacts at the highest level is clearly ripe - both sides have too many questions for each other, and without interaction between the Russian Federation and the United States, many international problems simply cannot be resolved.
“In general, the dialogue is expected to be double-edged. Although, after the disastrous summit in Helsinki, the United States fears that Putin will be able to outplay Biden during a personal meeting and impose his point of view. But there are hopes for a strong and professional team capable of protecting the American president.
Thus, the two leading nuclear powers seem to have a chance to come to a new model of relations - rivalry will be combined with selective interaction, excluding direct conflict,” NG sums up.
As PolitNavigator reported, US President JOE Biden called the Russian leader Vladimir Putin and proposed to meet on the territory of a third country to discuss problematic issues in relations between the two countries.
Before that Biden stooped to dirty insults Putin, after which the Russian ambassador was recalled from Washington.
