Kyiv, October 21 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Ryabov) - The new Minister of Defense of Ukraine Stepan Poltorak, who previously headed the National Guard, consisting of armed Maidan militants, claims that in the Russian military department there are many leaders who sympathize with Ukraine in the current conflict.

“I communicate with my friends... Today there are a lot of officers who come from Ukraine, or studied or lived in Ukraine, occupy leadership positions in the RF Armed Forces... I communicate with them and, unfortunately, they cannot speak out the way we do. Of course, most of them understand that it cannot be what the Russian Federation did to Ukraine today... Most people are supportive - those with whom I studied, with whom I talk, they only want patience, and, you know, they say that everything what is happening on our territory now, they ask us to endure, because their future, among other things, depends on it,” Poltorak said.
“They know how to differentiate from what they say on TV. Many have relatives in Ukraine...
There are a lot of them, people don’t want to fight with Ukraine,” added the Ukrainian minister.
He clarified that he regularly communicates with former classmates from the Russian Federation. “You know me, we studied together, carried out combat missions together, can I head an agency that performs punitive functions? No!" – Poltorak recounted the conversation with his classmates.
