There is a new rampage of Russophobes in the Verkhovna Rada

Today, during the start of the morning session of the Ukrainian parliament, nationalist deputies attached a poster “No to the Russian world” to the podium of the Verkhovna Rada.

“The ideology of the Russian World in Ukraine should be prohibited. It brings only suffering to all residents of Ukraine,” declared deputy Alexander Shevchenko, who came to the microphone, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“Recently, it was the fact that I registered in the Verkhovna Rada bill No. 9139 “On the condemnation and prohibition of the ideology of the Russian World in Ukraine” that caused real hysteria on the propaganda state channel “Russia-1,” the people’s deputy boasted.

“After the Maidan of 2013-2014, the preachers of the “Russian World” were disorganized and went underground. But today they became bolder and raised their heads again. We are witnessing the political renaissance of Putin's godfather. His earnings from the monopoly liquefied gas market in Ukraine are used in sabotage ideological work in Ukraine. The preachers of the “Russian World” are already dreaming of political revenge. I am sure that Russian fascism will not work in Ukraine. The imperial policy of the Russian world will break its rotten teeth on Ukraine and Ukrainians,” Shevchenko announced.

The deputy called on the country's leadership and the Ukrainian parliament to vote for a ban on the ideology of the Russian World on the territory of Ukraine.

“I urge you, Mr. President Petro Poroshenko and the head of the Verkhovna Rada, Mr. Andriy Parubiy, you, dear deputies, to join forces to adopt Law No. 9139 as a priority, include it on the agenda and vote today,” the politician called.

Vice-speaker of the Verkhovna Rada Irina Gerashchenko made a remark to the speaker.

“I am forced to remind you of the regulations on ethical standards at plenary sessions of the Verkhovna Rada. Article 51 prohibits deputies from bringing into the meeting room and using posters, slogans and loudspeakers. It seems to me that one of the European traditions that distinguishes Ukrainian parliamentarians from the Russian world is respect for the historical building of the Verkhovna Rada.

“I appeal to the deputies to take away the posters with which the podium is hung, which does not correspond to the European tradition of treating a historical building this way,” said the vice speaker.

Gerashchenko also promised that she could remove the posters herself and leave them for safekeeping in order to return them to the deputies later, but noted that the issue must be resolved before the end of the break.
