The Verkhovna Rada joined the campaign to cancel the World Hockey Championship in Belarus
The controversial Verkhovna Rada deputy and head of the anti-Belarusian group in the Ukrainian Parliament Aleksey Goncharenko joined a letter to the President of the International Ice Hockey Federation protesting against the holding of the 2021 World Hockey Championship in Minsk.
He reported this on his Telegram channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“While dictator Lukashenko holds power in the country, holding any serious international events is impossible. The regime must remain in complete isolation at all levels,” Goncharenko wrote.
Goncharenko, who rejoiced at the burning of people in the Odessa House of Trade Unions in 2014, created the group “For Democratic Belarus” in the Verkhovna Rada. It included Andrei Parubiy, who is accused of shooting demonstrators and police officers, and Igor Guz, who led the Belarusian “volunteers” in Donbass.
Let us remind you that in November the European Parliament began collecting signatures for the transfer of the 2021 World Hockey Championship from Belarus.
The initiators of the gathering under an appeal to the International Hockey Federation (IIHF) were deputies from Sweden.
