In Vinnitsa, the canonical Church went on the offensive for its rights
On January 4, about a hundred priests of the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church came to the Vinnitsa regional state administration and city council to declare oppression and violation of the rights of the UOC by the current government, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the local publication “20 Khvilin”.
The action took place after the coordination council of bishops of three dioceses: Tulchin and Bratslav (Jonathan), Mogilev-Podolsk and Shargorod (Agapit) and Vinnitsa and Bar (Varsanuphius). After this coordination council, the head of the Regional State Administration, Valery Koroviy, was given a letter stating that, according to the priests of the UOC, there is a violation of constitutional legislation in the Vinnytsia region.
After the picket on the Vinnitsa Independence Square, the procession of UOC priests went to the territory of the Holy Ascension Church, where it ended.
On the posters of the protesting priests there were inscriptions: “Our church is the UOC”, “Vinnytsia for the Blessed Onuphrius” and “Inflict persecution on the canonical church.” The priests also said that the building of the Holy Transfiguration Cathedral, seized by former Metropolitan Simeon, who was deposed for leaving the schism, is considered to belong to the UOC. Their procession was accompanied by two police crews.
