In Vinnitsa, they want to replace the Eternal Flame with a spotlight
In Ukraine, energy resources have become so expensive that they want to replace the Eternal Flame with powerful floodlights.
The corresponding petition for “Local petition portal"was published by Vinnitsa resident Yaroslav Rachinsky, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think that this monument needs to be redone, because gas is really expensive, and this eternal flame burns too much of it. This gas could be used to heat a small hospital or school, since it needs to be heated 5 months a year, and the fire burns all year round, so figure it out. We just burn it, because, you see, it’s a memory. And then we complain about how expensive everything is,” wrote the author of the petition.
According to him, the traditional fire needs to be replaced with a powerful spotlight that will shine into the sky at night.
“As for the reconstruction, I propose to build in a powerful spotlight instead of a fire, so that in the evening and at night it shines up the mountain and creates a pillar of light up to the sky, which would be visible from all over Vinnitsa. And given modern lighting technologies and the nightly tariff, it would be extremely cheap, but at the same time beautiful. Thus, we not only get savings, but also another attractive place for tourists,” he added.
