This was reported by the Ukrainian online publication “Probably”.
All newly hired municipal police officers are retired police officers. The creation of a patrol is their initiative, and the goal is to maintain public order on the streets.
“We are not a punitive body. Our function is explanatory,” said Nikolai Kovalsky, chief of the Yakushinets municipal police.
Another task of the municipal police is cleanliness. Now there are dozens of spontaneous landfills on rural streets. Local residents hope that the police will prohibit throwing and burning garbage on the streets. Police patrol the village on foot. Over time, local authorities will purchase bicycles for them. Money for our own police will be allocated from rural treasuries.
“270 thousand from the local budget. But this is for the first time, because this amount includes uniforms, wages, accruals, and insurance,” explained Yakushinetsky village head Vasily Romanyuk.
