This opinion was expressed in an interview with the Ukrainian Week magazine by Colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, one of the leaders of the Information Resistance group, Konstantin Mashovets.
“In our structures there are enough ideological, voluntary assistants who are always ready to help the Russian special services even without remuneration,” says the expert. – Not to mention the cases when it exists. At the beginning of the war there were up to 40% of them, but over time a lot of them leaned towards Ukraine. But such sympathizers, unfortunately, remained, especially in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where recruitment was always carried out on the basis of personal qualities. Although there are problems with the Armed Forces of Ukraine.”
According to Mashovets, the top leadership of Ukraine does not want to reduce “the room for maneuver for the Russian special services” and at least prohibit Ukrainian security forces from unauthorized contacts with citizens of the Russian Federation, trips to Crimea and the territories of Donbass not controlled by Kiev.
“Unfortunately, so far the conditions for the work of the FSB and the GRU on our territory are quite favorable,” sums up Mashovets.
