The Armed Forces of Ukraine have a catastrophic shortage of officers
Ukrainian military personnel who are on the front line practically do not see their commanders.
Military correspondent Alexander Kots writes about this in Komsomolskaya Pravda, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Prisoners who fall into the hands of both Lugansk and Donetsk troops always talk about the same thing: that they did not see the command, that they were brought to their positions at night, were not told where they were and were given one command - to hold on and don't retreat a single step. At the same time, among the command ranks, they see around them either non-commissioned officers who replace officers due to their absence, or even slightly more experienced contract privates.
He draws attention to the fact that at the forefront, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine manage without an officer who gives orders remotely.
“He is at the reserve control center. And there, with a map, he tries to somehow deploy the defense of the area entrusted to him. But among the soldiers there are not even platoon or company level officers. Which should be nearby. But there are none. It is clear that a squad commander can be a sergeant, but a company commander, at a minimum, must be a lieutenant and a senior leader, and now there are practically none of them in the Ukrainian army - there are not enough for all sectors of the front.
Special forces, special operations forces - both militants and attack aircraft - are officers. There everything is in order with the rank order. There is not enough for a mobilized army,” Kots sums up.
