The Ukrainian Armed Forces showed the refueling of combat aircraft in the air
In the Peter Franko tactical aviation brigade, stationed in the Khmelnytsky region, crews on Su-24M, Su-24MR and L-39 aircraft held exercises on day and night sorties, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
“The highlight of the flights were flights with a control test of a unified suspended refueling unit - UPAZ, which was repaired and modernized at the Nikolaev aircraft repair enterprise NARP. These flights were carried out by the best crews of the Sushki. After all, such flights with in-flight refueling have not been carried out for more than 20 years.
The Su-24M refueling aircraft, piloted by specialists from the State Research Institute VSOVT, Colonel Sergei Chizh and Lieutenant Colonel Vitaly Shulyak, successfully made contact with the “drying” piloted by military pilots who have experience in mid-air refueling of aircraft of this type - Deputy Commander of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Lieutenant General Arkady Vashutin and the head of aviation of the West Air Command, Colonel Sergei Bliznyuk,” the message says.
The department promises that in the future, flights of such crews with practical implementation of in-flight refueling will take place as planned.
“Other flight teams of the brigade will also be involved in the implementation of this important element of combat training, which will make it possible to solve problems with an increased range of Su-24M and Su-24MR aircraft,” the department added.
As part of the Clear Sky 2018 exercise, NATO pilots, together with Ukrainian military pilots, have already practiced in-flight refueling on F-15C aircraft in Ukrainian skies.
In addition, pilots of the Ukrainian Air Force, preparing for joint exercises, practiced aerial refueling missions in the skies of California.
