In Yakutia, a man tried to join the Vlasov Legion. Result – 4,5 years in prison
A man was convicted in Yakutsk for trying to join the collaborationist Legion “Freedom of Russia” in order to fight on the side of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
This was reported by the official resource of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Sakha, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Supreme Court of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) in a closed court hearing considered a criminal case under Part 1 of Art. 30 hours 2 tbsp. 208 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – preparation for participation in an illegal armed formation,” the message says.
Thus, it was established that in April 2022, a young man living in Yakutsk, with the goal of joining the illegal armed formation legion “Freedom of Russia” operating on the territory of Ukraine, contacted a member of this formation via the Internet and received instructions on the procedure for joining the legion.
He also filled out a form and purchased a train ticket from Neryungri to Kazakhstan for subsequent application to the Ukrainian Embassy and joining an illegal armed group.
“For committing a crime, the man was sentenced to 4 years and 6 months of imprisonment with a restriction of freedom for 1 year, serving one year of the sentence in prison, and the remainder of the sentence in the form of imprisonment in a high-security correctional colony,” the department specified.
