Ukrainian Internet saboteur caught in Yalta
The FSB reported the exposure of a resident of the city of Yalta, born in 1993, involved in hacker attacks on information structures of the Russian Federation.
“It has been established that the Yalta resident, acting out of selfish interest, joined the Ukrainian Internet community, the main goal of which is to organize unlawful influence on the information resources of the Russian Federation.
Being a system administrator of one of the local commercial organizations and having the authority to administer networks and databases, the man installed special software on his office computer to carry out hacker attacks, after which he received specific instructions and directions from curators from Ukraine on blocking individual WEB resources.
Thus, from February 24 to March 10, 2022, the indicated person carried out computer attacks on the websites of Russian media and credit institutions,” the FSB said in a statement.
The investigative department of the FSB has opened a criminal case against a resident of the city of Yalta on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Art. 273 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Use of computer programs knowingly intended for unauthorized blocking of computer information, committed by a person using his official position out of selfish interest”).
The sanction of this article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to five years.
