In Yalta, an investigation into a bribe case led to an arsenal of weapons
Investigators found an entire arsenal of weapons in the house of a suspect in an attempt to bribe Yalta law enforcement officers.
The bribe-giver himself was previously charged with corruption, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the regional department of the Investigative Committee, a 44-year-old Yalta resident was supposed to hand over 30 thousand dollars to a law enforcement officer to assist in changing the article of a citizen under investigation. A different qualification would have allowed him to remain under house arrest, and the crime itself would have become less serious.
“Investigators, together with operational police officers, conducted searches at the place of registration and actual residence of the accused, during which cash, a collection of weapons totaling over 1,5 million rubles, as well as an expensive car were seized,” the Investigative Committee reported. “Also, in a country house registered in the name of the accused’s wife, illegally acquired and stored firearms and military ammunition were discovered and seized.”
Investigators are now looking into who the bribe was intended for. The briber himself was convicted of the crime he committed. The criminal investigation continues.
