The church was built in 1876 on the initiative of Empress Maria Alexandrovna and designed by the architect Alphonse Vincent in the Byzantine style. The temple was damaged during the earthquake of 1927 and was dismantled by Yalta residents for building materials.
“In the palace church in Livadia, four carved capitals made of Carrara marble, which once adorned the temple galleries, were carefully preserved to this day, brought by repentant parishioners. We are not planning to build anything new, we are simply returning to the townspeople what rightfully belongs to them,” said Archpriest Dmitry Gotskalyuk
The church will be restored with funds from patrons with the support of the authorities of Yalta.
