This was reported in the communications department of the Transcarpathian region police, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Due to damage to the pipeline, oil products leaked at a distance of 300 meters.
“Law enforcement officers who arrived on call found that at 386 km of the main oil pipeline, a tap was welded. When the investigative team arrived, the tap was open. On a plot of land about 300 meters long, law enforcement officers found a spilled liquid similar to an oil product. The liquid has been pumped out, there is no longer a threat to the lives of others or environmental pollution,” said Tatyana Shchegoleva, press secretary of the National Police in the Transcarpathian region.
Based on this fact, the police opened criminal proceedings under Article 292 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (damage to main oil product pipelines). The investigation into the case continues. Law enforcement officers are conducting search operations in the area and also determining the length of the diverted hose. In addition, the circle of persons who may be involved in the illegal pumping of petroleum products is determined.
