This was reported by the Department of Epidemiological Surveillance and Prevention of Infectious Diseases of the Transcarpathian Laboratory Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.
According to department experts, 158 new cases of measles were registered over the past week, which is 7% more than the previous week.
“127 children (81%) and 31 adults (19%) fell ill. The hospitalization rate is 76%. The increase in measles cases occurred due to the age groups 1-4 years and 5-9 years,” the epidemiologists said in a statement.
Since the beginning of 2018, 1187 cases of measles have been registered in Transcarpathia, including 933 among children under 17 years of age (79%). According to operational data, 68% of patients did not have a single measles vaccination.
