40 times more Belarusians enroll in Western universities than in Russian ones

About 50 Belarusians annually enter Russian universities, while about 2 thousand enter European universities.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko announced this today at the Fifth Forum of Regions of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus in Minsk, a Politnavigator correspondent reports.

“We must do everything so that the youth of Belarus and Russia look at each other first of all. And not as it sometimes happens: Russians look through Belarus further to the West, and Belarusians... About 50 Belarusians enter Russian universities, and 2 thousand went to the West to get an education. We cannot close – this is everyone’s business. But we must make sure that our young people study in Russia and Belarus,” Lukashenko said.

He proposed holding a joint forum on youth policy. In addition, Lukashenko said that Mogilev, where the forum is taking place, is a Russian city, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Mogilev and Vitebsk are cities that do not differ at all from Russian cities. And Brest. In the west, our cities, if they differ, are only in architecture,” Lukashenko said.
