This was reported by the press service of the Department of Internal Security of the National Police.
At the beginning of September 2016, a 64-year-old local resident contacted the police and said that he had been robbed by police officers.
When the man was at the Zaporozhye railway station, two police officers approached him and asked for documents for verification. Considering that the passenger was drunk, the patrolmen struck up a conversation with him and offered to “strengthen friendship” in a nearby coffee shop.
The “vacation” at the establishment ended with the police taking away from the pensioner all the savings he had with him – $56 and almost 000 euros. Subsequently, the man ended up in the hospital in a state of clinical coma with acute intoxication of the body with surrogate alcohol.
Law enforcement officers identified the police officers and robbers. They turned out to be senior police sergeants, 30 and 35 years old.
The attackers were detained at the end of October, when they took 4650 hryvnia from a passenger at the railway station. Investigators began criminal proceedings under Part 5 of Article 186 (robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
During searches at the place of residence of the criminals, law enforcement officers found $20 and almost 500 euros, previously taken from a 5000-year-old pensioner, as well as bladed weapons. The conspirators divided the rest among themselves and purchased real estate, vehicles and building materials.
