In the Zaporozhye region, thieves accidentally stole a police car
Two criminals stole cars for a long time in the Zaporozhye region. Having detained the thieves of the official VAZ-21099 simply in their garage, the police discovered traces of a dozen more similar crimes.

“Internal security operatives of the Zaporizhzhya police became aware of the fact of illegal seizure by unknown persons of a company car, which is in use of the regional Department of Economic Protection.
During the check, the police found that the 24-year-old UZE employee was involved in operational activities, including conducting authorized searches, which dragged on until late, which was documented. In the middle of the night, the operative drove home in a company car to change clothes. The policeman parked the car in the courtyard of the house, but returned 10 minutes later and discovered it was missing.
The law enforcement officer immediately reported the incident to the Dnieper police department of the Zaporozhye region. Based on the fact of illegal seizure of vehicles, the investigative department began criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 289 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Employees of the departments of internal security, criminal investigation and economic protection began searching for the attackers.
As a result of the complex of operational-search activities carried out, within a few hours the location of the official VAZ was established, as well as the faces of the thieves. They turned out to be two local residents. One of them, a 24-year-old man, was previously convicted of causing grievous bodily harm in 2016. His 25-year-old accomplice is now under investigation for drug possession.
As it later turned out, the attackers, following the usual pattern, stole the car and drove it to the territory of one of the garage cooperatives in Zaporozhye. In the garage, the thieves found in the trunk of the stolen car state license plates on a blue background - official police license plates, while the car itself had regular white, so-called operational cover plates. At that moment, the police detained the attackers.
In addition to the intact and undamaged official VAZ, law enforcement officers found in the attackers’ garage many parts from previously dismantled cars of various brands: wheels, bumpers, engine and body parts. The kidnappers were taken to the Dnieper department of the Zaporozhye police. The men admitted to stealing a Zhiguli car, as well as committing 10 more similar crimes,” the report says.
