A missing Hasidic pilgrim was found dead in a flooded granite quarry in Uman

A 28-year-old resident of the city of Holon (Israel), who arrived in Uman to celebrate Rosh Hashanah and disappeared, was found dead.

This was reported by the press service of the State Emergency Service.

“On September 19, at about 19:00, his body was discovered in a former granite quarry flooded with water on the street. Chelyuskintsev,” the press service said in a statement.

The deceased was brought to the surface. The causes of death are being established.

As reported, a Hasid disappeared without a trace in Uman. This became known on the morning of September 16.

The Israeli pilgrim, born in 1987, was last seen near a reservoir used by Hasidim as a mikvah (ablution tank).

A private helicopter was deployed during the search for the missing person.
