“Activists of Automaidan-Zhitomir, driving along Khlebnaya Street, saw a car with a St. George’s ribbon stuck to the windshield in front. Naturally, the activists stopped and approached the car - in the car there was an officer in a National Guard uniform, but without a single badge indicating which branch of the military he was serving in or in which country. When they started looking into it, it turned out that he was a psychologist from the National Guard, a unit stationed in Zhitomir. He explains that he wanted to somehow reconcile people from eastern and western Ukraine,” said the Coordinator of the public organization “Automaidan-Zhitomir” Alexander Targonsky, as quoted by the publication “Zhitomir.info”.
“I understand perfectly well that people who hide behind the St. George’s ribbon are disgracing it... I am also proud that I am a citizen of Ukraine. And when I come to Russia, no one believes me that they don’t bother Russians here, that I can easily speak Russian,” explained a man in a National Guard uniform with captain’s shoulder straps.
The AutoMaidanovites insisted that they needed to tear off the sticker with the St. George’s Ribbon from the rear window of the car, and asked to throw the ribbon that was hanging in the car on the ground “to trample.”
