The idea that the brigade could be destroyed in any way appeared to us a long time ago. Especially after Volnovakha. Especially when they “torn” it, scattering it into the one hundred twenty-eighth, twenty-fourth, seventy-second, ninety-fifth brigades and others, where the fighters of the 51st are actually in the role of “street children.” And if you start quoting some “high” commanders, then at the emotional level you are 100% convinced of this,” said volunteer Konstantin Zinkevich.
According to him, attacks on checkpoints manned by soldiers of the 51st Brigade led to serious losses. In particular, on August 25 there was a tank and artillery attack on the Ukrainian checkpoints near Ilovaisky and Starobeshevo from Donetsk. “The entire 5th checkpoint was broken. Those who survived fled. The fate of some is still unknown. 7 soldiers died at once. Some (up to 30 people) came to the camp. Others are unknown where. A small group was then found and even took possession of a T-72 tank, in which they returned,” Zinkevich said, as quoted by Volyn News.
In addition, on the night of August 26, in the Dokuchaevsk area, 100 fighters tried to escape the encirclement. 40 soldiers were immediately killed. 5 people broke through. Others have disappeared.
“I don’t know what to advise the guys anymore. Our Volyn fighter called from Kyiv and is returning from vacation to the ATO zone. He asks for advice on where to return. He called his comrades; most phones do not answer. One picked up the phone and said that his “unit” of the 51st brigade actually no longer existed. Things, weapons that they handed over - everything burned. Comrades in groups are making their way out of the encirclement, but they don’t know exactly where they are. Today we closed a lot of checkpoints... There is trouble with our 51st brigade. It seems that no one needs her except volunteers, no one even wants to listen to her. As soon as they hear “51st”, they hang up…” reported Vasily Nagorny from the Volyn newspaper.
As Navigator reported, earlier the 30th Brigade was surrounded near Novosvetlovka, as a result of which it was practically destroyed.
