“An MI-8 ambulance helicopter, which was following the wounded, was shot down under a prior agreement that they would not fire at it. The helicopter had all the identifying marks, but was still shot down,” says ATO speaker Alexey Dmitrashkovsky.
“The crash site and the place where the helicopter was shot down have not yet been disclosed. We’re not reporting it yet because we’re worried about the lives of the pilots,” he clarified.
Dmitrashkovsky also stated that a Ukrainian MiG-29 fighter was shot down over Yenakievo.
“The pilot tried to divert the plane away from residential areas,” he said, noting that the pilot was alive. A search and rescue operation is currently underway.
As Navigator reported, yesterday Oleg Tsarev said that during the ATO, the Ukrainian military lost 2 An-26 aircraft, 1 reconnaissance aircraft, 2 Il-76 aircraft, 16 SU-25 aircraft, 7 SU-24 aircraft, 19 combat helicopters .
