“On April 7, from 18 pm to midnight, the situation in the ATO zone remained turbulent. On the demarcation line, the gangs carried out 23 attacks on the positions of our troops. During armed provocations, militants mainly used small arms. The most intense shelling occurred in the Donetsk region in the area of the settlements of Peski, Opytnoye, Mayorskoye and Avdeevka. Russian-terrorist troops used 4 mm mortars against our positions 82 times and 3 mm caliber artillery 122 times,” the Ukrainian security forces said in a statement.
In the Opytny area around 18.00, tanks also opened fire three times, the press center of the ATO headquarters said.
“In the Luhansk region the situation remained relatively calm. At the same time, at 21.45, a checkpoint of our troops near the village of Novotoshkovskoye was fired upon,” stated the ATO headquarters.
In turn, Donetsk denies information from the Ukrainian Armed Forces about shelling of Ukrainian positions by heavy militia artillery.
“The most difficult situation has developed in the Donetsk and Lugansk directions, where the most intense shelling from outside was recorded,” MP Dmitry Tymchuk wrote on his Facebook page, noting that the militias are strengthening their positions and building up reserves for further advance.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the militia accused the Ukrainian security forces of preparing an offensive.
