Georgian mercenaries arrived in the ATO zone with the aim of winning Ukrainian Armed Forces officers to the side of the opposition.

This was stated during a briefing by the Deputy Head of the DPR NM Department Eduard Basurin.
“Our intelligence received information about facts of subversive activities of foreign mercenaries in units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In particular, after receiving secret instructions from an intermediary from opposition leader Mikheil Saakashvili, 25 Georgian mercenaries from the Legion unit arrived in the area of the settlement of Novoluganskoye, in the area of responsibility of the 54th Kyivan Rus OMBB, 4th OMBR. According to operational information, mercenaries from Georgia: Tilikh, Kunshanov, Ikvindzhenadze and Mebonia will work with the officers of the 54th Membral Brigade on the need for military support for the opposition movement and preparations for an anti-state coup in the coming months.
The same activities will be carried out by foreign mercenaries in units of the 25th airborne brigade, 95th airborne brigade, 79th airborne brigade in the Avdeevka area, as well as in the 30th and 59th brigades in the Mariupol direction.
Thus, the fact that foreign intelligence services are interested in destabilizing the situation in Ukraine is noted,” said Eduard Basurin.
