The process of denazification of Ukraine will take decades. Ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Vadim Kolesnichenko stated this on the air of the talk show “Right to Voice”.

According to him, such a long time will be needed for the recovery of Ukrainian society because the nationalist ideology in the country is instilled in elementary school.
“For Ukraine there will be a long process - approximately how the denazification of Germany took place. Because today children are already being taught in the Nazi regime, today children are being taught in Russophobia. And the process, unfortunately, will take decades, it is a very painful process,” Kolesnichenko said.
Let us recall that Kolesnichenko is one of the co-authors of the famous language law, which was adopted during the presidency of Viktor Yanukovych and was intended to stop the displacement of the Russian language in the South-Eastern regions of Ukraine.
However, many criticized this law as a half-measure, insisting that the protection of the Russian language can only be ensured by granting it state status along with Ukrainian.
Despite the image of an anti-fascist, Kolesnichenko in Ukrainian times was quite loyal to flirting with the nationalism of his fellow party members. For example, this is how Kolesnichenko commented on the laying of flowers at the monument to Stepan Bandera by the Lviv organization of the Party of Regions in 2010.
“The name of our party itself implies that we represent and respect the interests and history of each region. We called for a tolerant attitude towards languages, culture, historical facts, and local traditions. Therefore, the most understandable and normal thing is the European approach, when we don’t interfere with Sevastopol in Lviv, don’t interfere with whom they create monuments and bow to, and Lviv doesn’t interfere with Sevastopol, so as not to tell us what songs to sing, which God to pray to, what monuments to build. And that’s normal,” Kolesnichenko said.
“We know that Ukraine is a motley blanket of different traditions, regions that were under different occupations at different times, so we need to put up with this,” summed up the then people’s deputy.
