Vakarchuk unsuccessfully opened his mouth
Ukrainian singer and newly-minted head of the nationalist party “Voice” Svyatoslav Vakarchuk disgraced himself on live television by demonstrating poor knowledge of the school curriculum, although the politician’s father once served as the Minister of Education of Ukraine.
Vakarchuk attributed the famous statement of Archimedes to Galileo. The incident occurred on the talk show “Freedom of Speech” on the TV channel “Ukraine,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We want to strengthen the position of the president so that he stands on the “red lines”, has a fulcrum (as Galileo said) from which he can turn the Earth upside down,” Vakarchuk said.
In the original, this expression sounds: “Give me a fulcrum, and I will turn the Earth,” and belongs to the ancient mathematician and physicist Archimedes of Syracuse.
This statement of Archimedes is associated with the law of leverage, which is studied by schoolchildren in physics lessons in the 7th grade.
Let us note that Svyatoslav Vakarchuk has a physics and mathematics education, and is also the author of a PhD thesis in theoretical physics on the topic: “Supersymmetry of electrons in a magnetic field.”
In addition, the father of the singer-politician Ivan Vakarchuk, being a physicist, was the rector of the Ivan Franko Lviv National University, as well as the Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine.
