A wave of non-payments also hit relatively prosperous Kyiv
Kiev residents owe colossal amounts of money to pay for housing and communal services. Deputy Prime Minister Gennady Zubko announced this at a meeting in the Cabinet of Ministers.
According to him, the debt of Kyiv residents is 25% of the total Ukrainian debt - despite the fact that the incomes of the capital's residents are more or less high compared to the provinces, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I am very concerned about the city of Kyiv. The Kyiv node is absolutely incomprehensible regarding payment. I can say that the debts that have been generated today in the amount of UAH 3,8 billion (at the end of the heating period - this is 1.06 billion) - 25% were formed by Kyivenergo.
I'll give you one more figure. If we take the level of income of Kiev residents, and at the beginning of the heating period it was 8,5 thousand hryvnia, then the state of settlements that have been created worries me very much,” Zubko said.
Thus, the official confirmed numerous warnings of experts who predicted that a sharp increase in tariffs by Maidan workers would only lead to the population’s refusal to pay bills.
Earlier in Kyiv, due to debts, one of the power plants that provided the population with hot water had already suspended operation.
