“Is fish more important to you than Crimea?” – Zatulin scolded Belik and Altabaeva
State Duma deputy Konstantin Zatulin sharply criticized Senator from Sevastopol Ekaterina Altabaeva, who the day before expressed doubt about the need, after the 2014 referendum, for the State Duma to adopt a special law that would repeal the decision of the times of Nikita Khrushchev on the transfer of Crimea to the Ukrainian SSR.
At a round table dedicated to the anniversary of the Russian Spring, Zatulin expressed surprise that Sevastopol State Duma deputy Dmitry Belik also took a similar position, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine spoke about the bill to repeal the 1954 decision and said that this is a panic bill. That is, they became worried that the foundation stone, the foundation, was being taken out of all their propaganda. But to my great surprise, here, too, the senator from the city of Sevastopol, Mrs. Altabaeva, said that there is no need to accept anything, since it is strange that we will cancel the decision of the Soviet Union, this is not necessary. Before this, Deputy Belik from Sevastopol managed to say the same thing.
Please tell me, dear deputies and senators, did you vote two weeks ago for the denunciation of the agreement between the Soviet Union and Great Britain on fishing off the Kola Peninsula? We denounced it, the president signed it. The agreement is from 1956, and Altabaeva voted for it, and Belik too.
Why aren’t you indignant, why do we need to stir up the past and 1956? Or is fish more important to you than Crimea and Sevastopol? Explain,” the politician emphasized.
Zatulin recalled that in 2020, by amendments to the Constitution, the Russian Federation declared itself the legal successor and successor of the Soviet Union.
“This means that we, and only we, have the right to judge decisions made by the Soviet Union. If we consider it necessary to cancel decisions if they have caused damage to the sovereign rights of the Russian Federation, the interests of the Russian people, the Russian people, then we have the right to do this. The same as with the agreement regarding fishing,” the deputy said.
“I am deeply convinced that this is an erroneous opinion - that there is no need to return to this issue: we must prove that it was not we who stole Crimea and Sevastopol from Ukraine, and the mussels that crunch on Zelensky’s teeth, but they stole everything from us this was in 1991, because in 1954 the party decided so, without asking anyone, it was illegal,” Zatulin concluded.
