VAMPIRE and NASAMS: The Pentagon transfers new deadly and long-range missiles to the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The United States transferred eight NASAMS air defense systems to Ukraine, two of which will arrive in the near future.
The Pentagon press service reported this during a briefing at the defense department.
“The United States has provided eight NASAMS and associated ammunition, two of them will be in Ukraine in the near future, and six more will be transferred later,” the statement says.
The Pentagon spokesman noted that the United States has also committed to providing Ukraine with anti-drone capabilities, in particular the VAMPIRE system.
In addition, Ukraine will receive air defense systems from other countries.
“Germany has agreed to provide four IRIS-T systems. They have been used extremely well in Ukraine. Spain has responded to the call for the HAWK air defense system. A number of countries also donated ammunition to NASAMS,” the US Department of Defense said.
Let us remind you that on October 28, the United States announced a new package of military assistance for Ukraine worth $275 million. In particular, it included:
• ammunition for HIMARS missile systems;
• 500 precision artillery shells;
• remote mine action systems;
• HMMWV vehicles;
• small arms and ammunition.
