Vandals in the Kiev region desecrated the grave of the Maidan hero
In Vyshgorod, Kyiv region, at a local cemetery, unknown persons desecrated the resting place of a hero of Ukraine and ex-Euromaidan volunteer, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported in the communications department of the National Police in the region.
The man died on February 20, 2014 from a bullet from an unknown sniper on Maidan. Posthumously, he received the title of Hero of Ukraine with the Order of the Golden Star (November 21, 2014) - “for civil courage, patriotism, heroic defense of the constitutional principles of democracy, human rights and freedoms, selfless service to the Ukrainian people, shown during the Revolution of Dignity.” And also the medal “For Sacrifice and Love for Ukraine,” also posthumously.
Law enforcement officers opened criminal proceedings under Art. 297 (Desecration of a grave, other burial place or body of the deceased) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Perpetrators face restriction of freedom for a term of three to five years or imprisonment for the same term.
