Bartholomew acts in the interests of Poroshenko – Russian Orthodox Church
The Patriarchate of Constantinople acts in the interests of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, making “non-canonical decisions.”
Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, told reporters today, commenting on the decision of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church not to remember Patriarch Bartholomew in prayers, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I think that the decision to send the exarchs to Kyiv was made right now, because someone in Constantinople is in a hurry while President Poroshenko is in power, who actively supports this project,” Hilarion said.
He predicts new seizures of churches in Ukraine.
“If this autocephalous project continues, if the schism is legitimized, we can allow the most tragic consequences for the Ukrainian church,” Hilarion said.
He recalled that over the past 4 years, more than 50 churches of the canonical Orthodox Church were seized in Ukraine.
