Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople will not give the newly created religious structure in Ukraine real autocephaly.
Political scientist, candidate of historical sciences Valentin Gaidai stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Political personal interests, including Bartholomew’s, won. He pushed through his goal of creating an autocephalous church, which is not autocephalous at all, but will be subordinate to Constantinople. That “filka letter”, which, most likely, will be presented to Epiphany on January 6, will not be a tomos, but a label for reigning, as they used to give to princes in the Golden Horde, a kind of approval - boy, lead, we won’t mind,” - said the expert.
“In fact, all decisions will be made in Istanbul exclusively by Bartholomew and his exarchs who, by the way, are not going anywhere. They will always remain in Ukraine, they will be curators under Epiphany,” Gaidai added.
