Bartholomew will have to decide the issue of canonization of Stepan Bandera
Ukraine will not receive any autocephaly; in the church structure created by Petro Poroshenko, Istanbul will be in charge, which is probably for the best, since schismatics will probably want to canonize Nazi collaborators like Stepan Bandera.
Military correspondent Alexander Kots stated this on air on the Russia-1 channel, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Poroshenko does not need autocephaly as an end in itself. Naturally, this is one of the last threads that connects Ukrainians with Russians. These threads were cut off by closing the border, and now we need to cut spiritual ties,” the military correspondent noted.
“They, of course, do not receive autocephaly. They receive not an autocephalous, but a colonial Church. Relatively speaking, they cannot canonize themselves; the Istanbul regional committee will be in charge of this.
This, perhaps, is for the best, because just as the Verkhovna Rada has now gathered to make Bandera a hero of Ukraine, the new Church will certainly want to canonize him.
Thank God, they won’t be able to do this themselves; apparently, they will send a request to Istanbul, and Istanbul will not be in a very good position,” added Alexander Kots.
Thank you!
