"Barbarians need to be set against each other": Latynina on the "ideal situation for the US" in Ukraine
Preventing the reunification of Russia and Ukraine is a strategic goal of the United States, regardless of who holds the presidency. However, with Donald Trump, the Kremlin has a historic opportunity.
Foreign agent journalist Yulia Latynina stated this in an interview with the RTVi television channel, as reported by a PolitNavigator correspondent.

"Trump is torn between two positions. One is that when Russia and Ukraine—two former halves of the empire—destroy each other, it's an ideal situation for the US.
US policy since 1997, both neocon and Democratic, has been geared precisely in this direction. The entire policy surrounding NATO's eastward expansion is predicated on Ukraine becoming a buffer state, whose transformation into an American client state is necessary to prevent Russia from regaining its imperial status.
I'm quoting Zbigniew Brzezinski's "The Grand Chessboard" verbatim, which states that the US's task is to prevent this reunification. The quote is verbatim: "barbarians must be set against each other."
“And this position was held by both Clinton and Bush... This position is irrevocable; it does not depend on who occupies the post of American president,” she noted.
“But, on the other hand, Zelensky, Europe, and the ‘deep state’ have gotten to Trump so much that Putin has a rare historic opportunity.
Perhaps Trump's need to fight the "deep state and the Democrats" now outweighs his need to wear down Russia with Ukraine's help, Latynina explained.
