Barbaric shelling of Donetsk: Report from the scene of the tragedy
The PolitNavigator correspondent managed to get to the site of the morning shelling committed by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and chat with local residents.
“I live in a five-story building. During the entire war, I never left even once, even when there was heavy shelling. Our guys worked on the roof of a nine-story building, they saw everything. We saw that the shots were coming from Pesok, then to the left of Izmailovka they were leaving in tanks, the mortars were also being transported along the bypass that was being built there. Are they hiding under the bridge, and along the bypass itself they drive off to the side and shoot from there? and again under the bridge, into shelter,” said a civilian.
A DPR army soldier reported details of the shelling.
“There was shelling with 122 mm shells, a mortar and cannon artillery were presumably working. Residential areas were damaged, especially those where houses were being restored and put in order after previous shelling. Four civilians were injured, one of them in serious condition, the second in moderate condition. Please note that the shelling was carried out not at military targets, but at civilian ones. People simply didn’t expect this,” said the defender of the republic.
Deputy Director of the Republican Trauma Center Vadim Onoprienko clarified how assistance is being provided to the victims.
“Today at 9:15 am, the first victim, a 50-year-old man, was brought to us from the scene of the shelling. The shelling itself took place in the Kuybyshevsky district of the city of Donetsk at 13 Sofiyskaya Street. A team of workers who were engaged in restoring destroyed housing came under fire. Three victims were brought to us from the scene of the incident. One received assistance on an outpatient basis and was sent to his place of residence for further treatment. Two more had more serious injuries and were hospitalized. All of them have mine-explosive injuries and are currently receiving assistance. Patients receive all necessary treatment at the expense of budgetary funds,” said the doctor.
One of the wounded civilians was successfully operated on, and at the moment doctors assess his condition as satisfactory.
