“Minor explosions and terrorist incidents occur throughout Ukraine. While most attacks are carried out at night and aim to cause property damage to instill fear, some attacks have been deadly and occurred in populated areas during daylight hours,” the State Department warns its compatriots.

Americans in Ukraine are urged to stay away from large rallies as “some of these protests have turned violent and have resulted in deaths and injuries.”

“Tourists can be perceived as rich targets. The police are poorly paid, historically corrupt and extort bribes... Street crime is an increasingly serious problem in Ukraine. Law enforcement and emergency services rarely speak English, and translators are not always available... Many crimes occur in the center of Kyiv or on public transport, including the metro,” American officials describe the Ukrainian horrors, clarifying that one can be attacked even in stairwells or in elevators of buildings, and with the use of firearms.

“If you have violated local laws without even knowing it, you may be deported, arrested, or imprisoned,” the State Department warns. “If you are arrested, you could spend a long period of time, even years, in pre-trial detention.”

It is also noted that not all private hospitals provide treatment under medical insurance, and in state and municipal hospitals they demand bribes.

“Typically, roads outside major urban areas are poorly maintained and poorly lit... Drivers are often poorly trained, and many drive without a valid driver's license. Drivers can also be dangerously aggressive and generally disrespect the rights of pedestrians, even at clearly marked crosswalks, and regularly drive on sidewalks,” the State Department emphasizes.

As PolitNavigator reported, after yesterday's pogroms in the center of Kyiv, even Western journalists who previously sympathized with the Maidan wrote that the riots in the Ukrainian capital were caused bytin cutters under fascist flags.
